we really need to start telling people ‘dont feed the trolls’ again because ragebaiting is getting like. disturbingly effective on the internet again even to young people who should know better

i guess while im at it most things posted online are fake or should be cautiously assumed as fake. r/aita and r/relationshipadvice are like almost entirely fake stories. people make shit up for no reason. not even to win arguments or to make some statement. just no reason! for fun! a lot!

Hey yeah in the midst of all the hype and the strikes, can we PLEASE fucking talk about this

Hi so- I know why!

Hollywood does almost everything in VFX they can these days. They do this because everyone who works on set is Union- but VFX and Animation aren’t. They can find cheap, non union, crunched to hell and back labor in other countries that don’t have the same union protections as every other shop they need on set.

You may have seen photos recently floating around of Sam Jackson on set for a marvel shoot vs Sam Jackson in the final cut. Instead of a designed set (a union job), there’s a green screen. Instead of a well made prop in his hand (a union job), there’s a piece of black foam blocked to kinda look like a gun by a PA who isn’t paid nearly enough.

This is part of Hollywood’s War on Union Labor that once again is defining the corporate age of streamer Hollywood, and it needs to end.

The problem of exploiting VFX artists does absolutely exist in Hollywood at large, however when it comes to at least crediting them, let’s compare the situation with Oppenheimer to other big studio movies that came out around the same time. Like,

Barbie - 135 people credited as “Visual effects by” (as of IMDb)

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One - 609 people credited as “Visual effects by” (once again as per IMDb)

But okay, those movies are from other studios, so let’s look at Universal Studio’s latest release before Oppenheimer:

Fast X - 538 people credited as “Visual effects by” (IMDb link)

So why do some Hollywood movies credit their VFX teams and some decide not to? Maybe the director, who oversees the project and absolutely has a say on the credits as well, especially one like Nolan, who is given all the creative control he needs, is actually responsible for that? Who is also quite infamous for his arrogance and elitism?

You can’t deserve a person’s love. You’ll drive yourself crazy thinking like that. They either love you, or they don’t. That doesn’t mean you weren’t good enough for them to love you, because love isn’t something you earn by being good enough. It isn’t something that can be quantified or doled out. Don’t blame yourself for not being loved how you need to, just teach yourself how to look for love where love lives.

This isn’t just about romantic love, or even skewed towards romantic love, although it does apply there too. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to accept is that my mother simply wasn’t someone who was capable of loving me, and there is no version of me that I could have ever been that would have earned that love. But with acceptance came healing. I was able to love myself more instead of resenting myself for not being more than any one person could be.

Are you listening? Even love for yourself isn’t earned. It is a kindness you give yourself.
